Specialist Hardware
In many applications that use NFC it is not always convenient to tap against a built-in NFC antenna, especially where the antenna is on the back of a tablet or smartphone.
We provide components and solutions that enhance the usability of NFC in a number of different application areas.
For example, some clients have wanted to expand the active area of a commercial USB NFC unit, whilst others want to make the "tap" point more accessible.
Why not get in touch with us to discuss your application and see if we can help?
Because the applications for these extenders can vary, it will help us to provide the right solution if we know something about how you plan to use them.
Small quantities of NFC antenna components can be ordered directly from the this page (see buy now buttons). For larger quantities, contact us for volume pricing.

Hi,
We received the boards yesterday. Just to let you know everything works as expected.
Thank you!

There are many different ways that NFC extenders are used to meet specific practical needs.
One common need is to mount an NFC device in a secure stand or casing but allow users to tap remotely.

I received the NFC patches and they work very well with our application/devices. We are going to deploy them in the field later this week
These are migrant workers mostly from mexico with very little tech experience. the extension has made it much easier for them to scan instead of trying to get them to scan on the back of the handheld device.
These solutions are very exciting!

There are a variety of NFC tags in use, from credit-card sized cards (e.g. payments), smartphones, as well as smaller format wristbands and tags.
For each application, the right choice of antenna can make a real difference in terms of performance.
An NFC circuit ready for you to build into your own hardware configuration.
Longer read range for scanning credit-card sized NFC cards and smartphones.
This multi-layer board is available as a component that provides excellent coupling efficiency and is the ideal starting point for building your own remote NFC touchpoints.
Simply solder two strands of cable to the solder points on each board to connect the two antennae. You can create a loop with 3 or 4 boards if you need multiple touchpoints.
Dimensions: 80mm x 90mm
Cost: £12.50 each (+ vat)

In an industrial application, the client needed to be able to scan a tag over a much larger area than their USB reader ACR 122U could achieve.
This unit enabled them to expand the scan area from approximately 50mm x 50mm on the ACR 122U up to 120m x 100mm with no loss of performance.

Extend the reach of a contactless payment terminal by several meters. You can even reach multiple locations from 1 payment terminal.
This unit can handle NFC interactions from 5 or more meters away from the device. Works well with contactless payment terminals, to support excellent social distancing.
Also sensitive enough for a mobile phone or tablet's built in NFC antenna to be extended far from the device.
On request, we can extend this unit to add an additional touchpoint so that a single device can be linked to two separate remote touch points.

In a retail application, this self-adhesive unit has significantly improved tap success rates by expanding the active NFC area of a Nexus 7 tablet.
On a Nexus 7 (2013) unit, the NFC antenna is located in the centre of the device, which is not the most intuitive location for a user to find. To address this concern, we developed a custom curcuit that is readily attached to the back of this tablet and extends the active area right out tot e top edge of the unit resulting in significantly higher tab success rates.
